What is a Silent Disco?

A silent disco — also called a silent party or headphone disco — is an event where guests wear wireless LED headphones instead of listening through speakers. Up to 3 DJs or audio channels broadcast at once, each on its own frequency, and guests switch between them freely using a button on the ear cup. The LED color shows which channel they’re on, so you can see the room split across three DJs at a glance.

In a city where venues sit next to residences, embassies and federal buildings, that changes what’s possible. A headphone party can run late without a single noise complaint, indoors or out.

FAQ

DC Silent Disco Rental FAQs

Everything you need to know about silent disco and silent party rentals in Washington, DC. Still have a question? Get in touch and we’ll answer it.

Pricing has two parts. Headphones are $4 each, and transmitters are $65 each — you need one transmitter per audio channel, and a single transmitter broadcasts to an unlimited number of headphones, whether that’s 25 guests or 500+.

Our minimum order is 25 headphones and 1 transmitter, which comes to $165.

From there it scales with your guest count and how many channels you want. A 100-guest silent party with one DJ is 100 headphones ($400) plus one transmitter ($65) = $465. Add two more channels so guests can switch between DJs and it’s $400 + $195 = $595.

Free shipping both ways is included in every Washington, DC rental. Contact us for large-scale events or full-service packages with staffing and DJs.

Five steps:

1. Pick your date and venue. Silent disco works indoors or out. Because there’s no amplified sound, you won’t need a sound permit and you’re not fighting the District’s noise limits.

2. Count guests and choose your channels. One headphone per guest, with a 25-headphone minimum. Then one transmitter per DJ or playlist you want running — most hosts pick three so guests can switch.

3. Order your gear. We ship free anywhere in the DMV, usually arriving a couple of days before your event.

4. Plug in and broadcast. Connect a laptop, phone, or DJ mixer to the transmitter’s RCA inputs. Most setups take under 20 minutes.

5. Ship it back. Pack everything into the same cases and send it back with the prepaid label. Nothing to return in person.

Yes — weddings, corporate events, galas, brand activations, fitness classes and wellness retreats are among the most common DC bookings. Wedding after-parties are especially popular, since a silent party lets a reception keep going past the venue’s amplified-sound curfew. Equipment hire covers headphones and transmitters; add a DJ referral or full production if you want it.

Our minimum order is 25 headphones and 1 transmitter. Above that there’s no cap — we regularly supply everything from 30-guest receptions to 5,000-person festivals.

Scaling up is straightforward: because one transmitter broadcasts to unlimited headphones, growing your guest list only changes the headphone count. You only add transmitters when you want to add channels.

Each transmitter broadcasts one audio channel over its own radio frequency, and every headphone in range picks it up. There’s no cap on how many headphones a single transmitter can reach — 25 guests or 500+, it makes no difference. Range is the only limit, not headphone count. Run up to three transmitters at once and guests switch between all three channels with a button on the ear cup.

The LED on each headphone changes color to match the channel, so you can see at a glance how the room is split between DJs. No apps, no pairing, no wifi — guests put them on and they work.

Between 8 and 10 hours on a full charge, with about a 2-hour recharge time — more than enough for a full night, including events that run well past a venue’s normal curfew.

We ship the headphones and transmitters directly to your address ahead of your event. When it’s over, pack everything back into the same cases and send it back using the prepaid return label we include. Shipping is free in both directions — nothing to drop off, nothing to arrange.

Weddings, corporate events and brand activations, galas, fitness and wellness classes, festivals, silent parties, private parties, and conferences — particularly anywhere noise limits, shared venue walls, or multiple simultaneous performances are a concern. In Washington that covers most downtown venues and any reception that wants to run past midnight.

The rental covers the equipment — headphones and transmitters. You supply the music by connecting your own device or DJ mixer through the RCA inputs. Need a DJ in DC? We’re happy to make a referral or quote full-service production.
